PERHAPS A BREED RESCUE GROUP CAN HELP YOU!

PoundHounds is an all-breed dog rescue group, which means we work with any type of dog, from mixed breed to purebred. But did you know that there are rescue groups for almost every of dog you can imagine? That's right...from AFFENPINSCHER TO XOLOITZCUINTLI.

These purebred or "breed" rescue groups are an invaluable resource if you're looking specifically for a Poodle or a Malamute, or dogs that don't shed or miniature breeds or dogs that weigh over 100 pounds (yikes!). Breed rescue groups know their dogs from cold wet nose to wagging tail, and can help you determine if the breed you think you want is actually the right one for you. Most of these groups also have web sites, so you can see the dogs they have up for adoption.

There are many resources for locating and contacting breed rescue groups, but thanks to the great folks at Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue (now there's a wonderful breed!), PoundHounds is pleased to link to their breed rescue guide, which is actively maintained by YGRR and should be a good starting point for you in your research.
